In 1986, Ray and Mary Lou Cressy founded Cressy Marketing, Inc. as an independent manufacturers’ representative group which sold products to boat builders and recreational vehicle builders. Because of the cyclical nature of the marine and RV industry the Cressys were interested in diversification.

The opportunity came when a longtime vendor, Howard Miller Clock Company, encouraged the Cressys to take on the sales and marketing for their new memorial cremation line. Anticipating the dramatic increase of cremation, Howard Miller, a 90 year old American company, designed a full line of highly styled wooden cremation urns, adding luxurious touches to the market and filling a gap.

Cressy Marketing seized the opportunity and formed a new corporation focused on the cremation and death care industry: Cressy Memorial was incorporated March 8, 2006 and focused on serving the needs of funeral homes, crematories and cemeteries via distributors.

In 2008 Cressy Memorial became a manufacturer of high impact polymer plastic, lab strength-tested urn vaults.  Originally there were 2 sizes, the Regent and Marquis.  The reception from the industry was gradual.  Over the years and only after many tradeshows, sales calls and marketing campaigns Crowne Urn Vaults have become a staple for many funeral homes and cemeteries. Cressy Memorial now works with over 35 funeral home and cemetery distributors to cover the U.S. landscape.

In 2017 Cressy Memorial/DBA Crowne Vault became certified as a Women Owned Small Business through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

In 2018 Cressy Memorial/DBA Crowne Vault designed a 3rd size vault to meet the needs of cemeteries who wanted a product with a shallow profile that could be used for smaller spaces within the cemetery. The compact Coronet rounds out the trio, and the Memorial accent collection of Regent colors, lifestyle emblems and custom nameplates positions Crowne Vault as a cremation industry leader.
